Not that Weird but certainly Wicked: Kenya’s Tandawazi Festival

Tandawazi has only been around for a few years, but it’s gaining an enthusiastic and active audience.  So what is it?  In short, Tandawazi is a celebration of Kenya’s cultural diversity and is explored through Dance, Music & Martial Arts.

A large focus of the festival is Capoeira.  What is Capoeira?  It is a 500 year old Brazilian Dance/ Martial Art that was created mainly by African slaves.  You can attend workshops on Capoeira, learn how to Break Dance or other types of dance.

Proceeds raised from the festival go towards Project Baraza.  The aim of the project is to build and refurbish community youth centres in under privileged communities.
