It Beats the Teddy Bear Picnic: Thailand’s Monkey Buffet

Ah, monkeys – those adorable, mischievous and terrifying creatures.  How we love to watch them play with kittens, ride on pigs, and have adorable baby monkey baths

Thailand will be honouring the animals this month with a feast to end all feasts!  Each year on the last Sunday of November, thousands of pounds of tasty fruits and veg will be brought in to Lopburi to feed the local residents of 2,000+ macaque monkeys.  The monkey feast is a major tourist attraction and can cost around $16,000 to put on.

Have you ever been to the Monkey Buffet?  If so, please comment below and share your stories!

When: November 25th, 2012

Where: The Pra Prang Sam Yot temple, Lopburi Province, Thailand.
